From language to identity, Don’t Say Gay and how the light shined on these horrific bills may actually help move our communities forward and so much more.

We spoke with Rosemary a little over a year ago and it was such an incredible conversation that we decided to reach out again and ask representative Ketchum for her thoughts on the direction our community is taking in response to these bills around the country and her own journey through identity and finding her way as a community organizer and now representative from the great state of West Virginia.

Congresswoman Rosemary Ketchum has agreed to come back to Pride Connection on April 26, 2022 for a conversation about legislation that has recently passed that greatly affects us in the LGBTQ+ Community. We decided in preparation for Rosemary's return to Pride Connection, we should revisit our first conversation.

You won’t want to miss this candid and compelling conversation with Rosemary Ketchum, the first trans woman to become an elected official. Rosemary is the Councilwoman for Ward 3 in the city of Wheeling, WV. Rosemary opened up her life to us. From growing up in Ohio; realizing she had to transition; the role of her family during her transition process; her thoughts on inclusive language and pronouns; and how she feels now that she is a successful woman. We also talk politics; her decision to run for a Council Seat; the issues she cares for; and her work ethics.

Rosemary has been a community organizer in the state of West Virginia for a long time. Some of the issues she tackles from her Council Seat include homelessness and poverty. As a Mental Health professional, she focuses on insuring availability of mental health resources in her community.
